Maria Chiara Valacchi
She attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, earning a degree in Contemporary Art Restoration and a Master degree in Museum Management. Today she is focused on the expansion of research of up-and-coming contemporary art scene.
Since 2010 she is the co-founder and the curator of the projects Cabinet and Studiolo, both based in Milan, featuring influential mid-career artists such as Sylvie Fleury, Kaye Donachie, Karsten Födinger, Dagmar Heppner, Alexander Wagner, Pieter Vermeersch and emerging artists such as Amalia Ulman and Alex Mackin Dolan.
In 2014 she founded Paint! an online platform dedicated exclusively to the documentation and the diffusion of the most excellent contemporary painting and also the first one to avail nothing but the contribution of renowned international artists.
As an independent curator she has scheduled more than eighty exhibitions in private and public spaces, the most recent: “Studiolo, the Best of Italian Youth”, “San Marino Calling” and “Gen X” all commissioned by the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of San Marino, involving artists such as Pierpaolo Campanini, Kaye Donachie, Sophie von Hellermann, Paul Housley, Victor Man and Alexis Teplin.
She has signed a lot of publications and written monographic articles for several art magazines and newspapers as ArtForum, ArteeCritica, FlashArt, Arte, Muse, Inside, Playboy and interviewed well-known curators and artists such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Simon Castet, Michaël Borremans, Wim Delvoye, Candida Höfer, Jeff Koons, Jim Lambie, Richard Phillips and Tatiana Trouvé.
